The answers to many of your questions about working with Bliss Books and Paper
When will my item(s) ship?
Everything is handcrafted one at a time, so even though you purchased an item, it will take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to create. Most paper goods will ship within 2 to 3 business days from the order, most journals will take 3 to 5 business days and larger items such as the travel journal set or the heirloom cookbook can take 2 weeks. Each listing has a "ready to ship" day range listed. If you have specific dates you need an item, please plan and get in touch about estimated shipping dates as soon as possible. Certain times of the year are busy, so please keep that in mind when ordering.
Items being shipped outside of the US will need to be processed through customs. This can add additional time to the actual delivery date to your door. Unfortunately, I cannot estimate the length of time a package may take to get through nor does the cost of your item cover any associated fees.
Can I have a name or word embroidered on my book?
Yes! Words, names or initials can be hand embroidered on the cover of a leather or waxed-canvas book. Based on the dimensions and style of the book, there is an 8-character limit for most items. Please be sure to add the upgrade option to your order at the time of purchase. If there is something else you would like sewn onto the cover, just pop over an email to find out if it is possible on your item. At this time, foil stamping and embossing are not available.
There is a color of leather or canvas that I like in the picture, but it's not listed as an option when I go to purchase. Will it be available again?
The short answer is yes, no or maybe. All the leather is purchased in small batches, one hide at a time. Often I am lucky and am able to get more of the same, however, sometimes it may be months before it is available again or it may never come back at all.
The hand-waxed canvas, created in Texas, is also purchased in small batches but is almost always available. Because the supplier is a small business too, she sometimes decides to no longer carry a color, but that is rare. If there is another color that you don't see, please ask as I have many shades that I don't stock but can special order.
Long story short, get it while it's hot!
Can you create a custom book based on my needs?
Yes! One of my favorite things is creating custom items for clients. When you come to me with an idea, you play a big part in decisions throughout the design process. It's important to me that your voice is heard and that the final piece is better than you even imagined. Some of my favorite items have been inspired by past clients! Their special requests, alterations to current pieces and fresh ideas have brought unique items to everyone that comes to my shop. Like I tell my children, if you don't ask the answer will always be no...so ask!
Do you offer a discount if I order a larger quantity of an item?
Unless your order qualifies as wholesale, the item per price does not change. The reason? Everything is made by me, by hand, one at a time with great care and love. That means every hole is hand punched, every paper is hand cut and every book is hand sewn using all the same high quality materials.
What happens if my item arrives damaged?
If something arrives damaged please contact me right away! Nearly all packages are insured against loss and damage through USPS, so if it appears that the package itself was also damaged, opened, or destroyed, it will be covered 100%. If you feel that the item itself is damaged, but not through shipping, please send a message to me to discuss the issue and reach a resolution. Keep in mind that all items are handcrafted with natural materials. Sometimes differences and idiosyncrasies occur and are part of the uniqueness.
Can I return or exchange my books or correspondence?
If you want to return or exchange an item, please contact me immediately. Items that have been customized through embroidery or printed text, are not eligible. All other items need to be reviewed to determine if it can be resold. Return shipping costs are your responsibility.
Can I cancel a custom order?
If for any reason you need to cancel a custom order, contact me immediately (no more than 2 business days from the order date). Due to the personal nature of custom items, all orders are non-refundable without exception so it is imperative that get in touch right away to further discuss the issue.
Yes! You will receive an electronic (pdf or jpeg) file BEFORE any production work is begun. Once there is an OK from you, printing and production of the project can start. If you find errors or need to make change to the proof, another will be sent to reflect the new details. If you prefer to see a live proof of an invitation or stationery, one can be sent for a small fee.
Do I see proofs for custom artwork, invitations, and stationery?
Did you really sleep with a box of crayons when you were a kid?
Yes! I really did sleep with my box of 64 Crayolas every night. They, along with my big blue stuffed elephant and my tooth-bearing alligator (I was sure he would keep me safe while I slept), were nestled together dreaming of great things to create the next day.
